Pick a Question, Any Question

Although I love writing stories, I don't want to bore you with one every week, so I'm mixing it up a little. I love to get to know you all, and if we knew each other in person, I know we'd have some great conversations.

Please read through these questions, pick one (or two, or more) and answer it in the comments. If you'd rather, you can flip it and ask me one. I'll answer it. And at the end of this post, just for my friend Janie Junebug, are two pictures of our new baby Blue Heelers, Tyson and Max. They are brothers, such cuties, and so full of energy. They are already trying to herd us as they will the cows one day.

Here are the questions:

1. What is a song you enjoy singing aloud when you are alone?

2. What is a pet peeve?

3. If you could spend a day with any author, past or present, who would it be?

4. What is a memorable date you've had?

5. What is a major gaffe you've committed?

6. What makes you decide to consistently read and respond to another person's blog?

7. What is a talent you have?

8. What frightens you?

9. What is the first thing you notice about a person when meeting them for the first time?

10. If you could eat something every day without negative consequences, what would it be?

And now, the pups:

Tyson is on the left and Max is kissing him. I am holding Tyson's leg because for them both to be still is a rare moment.

They are both on the lookout for the semi-wild barn cat, who had just slapped Tyson, much to his chagrin.

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

I am moving away from my own writing for a bit to ask you questions. The first: If you blog, what is your most viewed and/ or commented on post? If you don't blog, what is the most memorable post you've read? I'll add mine in the comments.

Include a link to the post in your comment- I'd love to read each one.

(And I'm hoping my internet is fixed for good...love my son-in-law!)

Why? Why? Why Do You Do It?

I started blogging last summer as a little month long exercise for me. I wanted to teach blogging to my students, and before I teach something in writing, I want to do it myself. I didn't plan to continue it after that month, but I found I was hooked.

It was HARD for me to click that publish button the first time. It still is, truth be told. My heart always jumps in my throat a little. One of the main reasons I love blogging is because I have been gifted with such a treasure of blogging buddies who have enriched my life beyond imagination. As much as I enjoy it, I haven't shared my blog with too many people I know personally. In fact, only two people I know in real life even know I have a blog. I'm more than a little shy about it, and I don't really know why yet.

I read such polished and articulate blogs every day.  Your talent, my friends, truly amazes me. I so enjoy reading your stories and slices of life and seeing your pictures and artwork. Personally, I have no aspirations of taking my writing beyond blogland because I know the limitations of my writing abilities. I mainly write to satisfy my creative itch. But there are others out there who are working on books and some who are already published authors.

With thanks to my blog friend Clint over at Lyrics of Love and Lore, I am hijacking his question because I want to know from you all: Why do you blog? Let's get a good blog discussion going about this.

Burning Questions

Here are some questions that have been rolling around in my head.

1. Why do baseball coaches wear baseball uniforms? Football coaches don't wear football uniforms and basketball coaches don't wear basketball uniforms. That polyester blend they make the baseball uniforms out of is unforgiving on figures that haven't played the sport or even exercised in years.

2. Why do folks in the limelight (i.e. politicians) think their indiscretions will be forever hidden from the public? I still can't fathom what is going through their minds when they are doing some of the things they are doing and not thinking that it will ever get out into the public.

3. Why are movie theaters usually so cold? Theater goers don't want to have to purchase arctic fleece just to watch a movie.

4. Why do some people try to hide behind the cloak of anonymity if they have a negative comment or opinion about someone, especially in blogland? I had an anonymous commenter on my last post who obviously doesn't know me, but preferred to keep their negative comment shrouded in the anonymity of its author. The same for the anonymous emails I received earlier that ridiculed the way I looked in a picture I posted when I blogged about losing a great deal of weight. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but be strong enough to take ownership of your opinion, especially if you're going to say something that's not nice.

5. Why do slow drivers invariably think blocking the left lane is an OK thing to do? Driving slowly on a highway while riding parallel to another slow moving car will only enhance the blood pressure of all the drivers behind you.

6. Why do so many younger guys think that showing a large part of their underwear and wearing the waistband  of their pants at the tops of their thighs makes them look attractive? One word- ewwwww.

7. What is something extra special I can do to surprise my oldest daughter when she comes home in a few weeks to celebrate her quarter century birthday? She's savvy to most of my tricks, so it will be hard to pull something over on her, but I really want this one to be extra special.

If you have the answers to any of these questions, or just want to share burning questions of your own, please feel free!

Fill In The Blanks

My dear blogging friends,

I would love to hear your answers to the following questions, if you dare. I feel like I blog ad infinitum about myself, and that gets boring. Should you choose, please copy these questions in the comment section and fill in the blank with your own answers. I so enjoy finding out more about my blogging buddies. I hope you will take part!

1. My biggest pet peeve is _____________________ .

2. If I could gift anyone with anything, I would give __________________ to ______________(person's name).

3. If I could spend one hour right now with one person from my past, it would be ___________________.

4. If I could pick any four people from the past or present to have dinner with me, I would invite _____ _____, ____________, _____________, and ___________.

5. If I could go back to my 15 year old self and give any piece of advice, I would tell myself __________________________________________________________________________.

That's it, my intelligent and entertaining friends. I hope you give it a spin!
