Sweethearts

Sush, from First Do No Harm, gave me my first and only blog award, the Liebster Award (sweetheart in German). I've only been blogging about 2 1/2 months, so there is much I still have to learn about writing and blogging in general. I love to read Sush's posts because her blog and comments are always so engaging and warm, something I'd like for my blog to be.

Sush's blog is lush with Southern gentility, rich with family, and always a joy to read. You will laugh, cry, and become satisfied there are still wonderful people in this world after you've read her postings. Visit her blog today- we need to spread more goodness and charm in this world.

The Liebster Award is meant to connect us even more and spotlight new bloggers who have less than 200 followers. (I copied this directly from Sush's blog because it says it so well.)

Every blogging award usually is accompanied by a set of rules. This award has only 5:

1.  Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2.  Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3.  Post the award on your blog.
4.  Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the Internet - other writers.
5.  And best of all - have fun and spread the love!

I've modified rule #2 just a bit. I'm going to reveal one blogger a week instead of everyone at once. My initial award is to the person whose blog actually inspired me to get mine going. She was my first follower and was the very first to comment on my blog posting. It is Crystal Pistol at Crystal's a Pistol. Crystal writes amazingly transparent, funny, zany, and moving posts. She's a beautiful person inside and out and is a wife and a mom to four great kids. Head on over to her blog today and check it out.

Enjoy your Friday, my friends!

  2. Congratulations, Shelly. I really don't think you have any more to learn about blogging because yours is already one of the best around. I also couldn't agree more about Sush, her family and her blog. Have a great weekend, dear friend!

  5. Greetings --- This is Munir over here at Focus. First of All, I hope yopu and your loved ones are doing fine. Secondly Congratulations on the award. You will be getting many more, I am quite sure of that. Also I will be sure to check out Crystal's Place as well. I have not been putting too much time in blogging or even reading. My husband's BP is very high. I am trying to motivate him to cut down on salt, exercise and drink a lot of water. Also they added new medication. It is frightenign because he already had an open heart surgery (Two years in Dec) and there is nothing they would be able to do, if his arteries get blocked again. I get stressed out. May be I will write this evening, as it makes me feel good.
Your blogs are very inspiring and sometimes funny too. So I hope that you will write. I am still unable to add my self as your follower. I will keep trying. Have a good weekend:)

  14. Shelly--

I read your previous post along with this one.

Some fellow teacher friends and I went to see Grumpy Old Men II at the movie theater years ago. One of my friends is particularly naive. As the lights dimmed, she mentioned she was planning on bringing a group of her students (special ed) to see this movie. We were all aghast. No, she had not seen the first one, and when we questioned her further, she said, "Well, it's a movie about two older men who are friends. I thought they would enjoy it." However, minutes into the movie, she was loudly exclaiming, "Oh my God!" over and over, imagining the mess she would have been in if she had followed through with her plan.
