Sush, from First Do No Harm, gave me my first and only blog award, the Liebster Award (sweetheart in German). I've only been blogging about 2 1/2 months, so there is much I still have to learn about writing and blogging in general. I love to read Sush's posts because her blog and comments are always so engaging and warm, something I'd like for my blog to be.

Sush's blog is lush with Southern gentility, rich with family, and always a joy to read. You will laugh, cry, and become satisfied there are still wonderful people in this world after you've read her postings. Visit her blog today- we need to spread more goodness and charm in this world.

The Liebster Award is meant to connect us even more and spotlight new bloggers who have less than 200 followers. (I copied this directly from Sush's blog because it says it so well.)

Every blogging award usually is accompanied by a set of rules. This award has only 5:

1.  Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2.  Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3.  Post the award on your blog.
4.  Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the Internet - other writers.
5.  And best of all - have fun and spread the love!

I've modified rule #2 just a bit. I'm going to reveal one blogger a week instead of everyone at once. My initial award is to the person whose blog actually inspired me to get mine going. She was my first follower and was the very first to comment on my blog posting. It is Crystal Pistol at Crystal's a Pistol. Crystal writes amazingly transparent, funny, zany, and moving posts. She's a beautiful person inside and out and is a wife and a mom to four great kids. Head on over to her blog today and check it out.

Enjoy your Friday, my friends!

  1. Hi Shelly. Congratulations on your very first blog award. The first one is always very special, and you are certainly deserving of this one.

  2. Congratulations, Shelly. I really don't think you have any more to learn about blogging because yours is already one of the best around. I also couldn't agree more about Sush, her family and her blog. Have a great weekend, dear friend!

  3. Thisisme: Thank you so much- I have much to learn, but I so enjoy my blogging friends and I am delighted you are one of mine!

Shady: I don't think they get much better than you, and so I consider it high praise, indeed! Thank you, my good friend, and I hope this weekend is relaxign and refreshing for you!

  4. Shelly you could not have made a better choice since I also enjoy spending time over at Crystal's place. She inspires me, cracks me up and entertains me weekly. I have also enjoyed all your posts and have shared them with family & friends. We have a very good blog family and I am proud to a part of it. Have an awesome weekend.

  5. Greetings --- This is Munir over here at Focus. First of All, I hope yopu and your loved ones are doing fine. Secondly Congratulations on the award. You will be getting many more, I am quite sure of that. Also I will be sure to check out Crystal's Place as well. I have not been putting too much time in blogging or even reading. My husband's BP is very high. I am trying to motivate him to cut down on salt, exercise and drink a lot of water. Also they added new medication. It is frightenign because he already had an open heart surgery (Two years in Dec) and there is nothing they would be able to do, if his arteries get blocked again. I get stressed out. May be I will write this evening, as it makes me feel good.
Your blogs are very inspiring and sometimes funny too. So I hope that you will write. I am still unable to add my self as your follower. I will keep trying. Have a good weekend:)

  6. Shelly, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am so honored you would chose me and feature me first. I will, of course, accept the award. It is so cute! I love it!

YOU, my friend, are the real sweetheart!

  7. This is so sweet! I think you are well-deserving! I like Crystal a lot, too! She is super funny & nice, too. :)

  8. Odie: Thank you, good friend! I hope your weekend is refreshing and great.

Munir: Thanks you. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's BP troubles. Mine used to be quite high, too, until I lost weight. I look forward to reading your next post- I always enjoy what you write!

Crystal: The honor is mine, my friend- thank you for getting me started on this!!!

  9. Kelley:

You are so kind- I always LOVE reading your hilarious posts!

  10. Shelly...wonderful first choice, I headed over and joined the posse! You do have a real Sweetheart of a blog and I look forward to a new posting when I am reading my lists...You have overwhelmed me with your compliments, so very kind and touching!

  11. What a fun idea to spread out your choices!! It's fun to see a new blog every week....sometimes it can be too many at once the other way!

Congratulations, I agree, you need no more experience, your stories are the best around!

  12. I just went over to Crystal's blog, and you're absolutely right - I loved it! I'm having such a good time reading your blog as well, AND Sush's AND... well - it's starting to take me a very long time every day to read them all!

  13. I love Crystal's blog. You are deserving of many awards, Shelly!

  14. Shelly--

I read your previous post along with this one.

Some fellow teacher friends and I went to see Grumpy Old Men II at the movie theater years ago. One of my friends is particularly naive. As the lights dimmed, she mentioned she was planning on bringing a group of her students (special ed) to see this movie. We were all aghast. No, she had not seen the first one, and when we questioned her further, she said, "Well, it's a movie about two older men who are friends. I thought they would enjoy it." However, minutes into the movie, she was loudly exclaiming, "Oh my God!" over and over, imagining the mess she would have been in if she had followed through with her plan.

  15. Sioux: I am literally falling out of my chair laughing- that is so funny!

I love to hear from you! I also love to comment back.
