Making This Blog More Interesting

I'm working to make my blog more interesting.

Some ideas I'm considering for a post:

1. One of the most bizarrely hilarious, true stories I've ever heard. However, it could possibly prove to be offensive to people with dwarfism and a religious group known for going door to door on Saturdays with tracts. Don't want to offend anyone.

2. The time I was hopelessly lost for over five hours on the subway in Paris. I was 17 and with some other teenaged friends. It has indelibly shaped my opinion of the French.

3. A chilling experience one night in the Sangre De Cristo mountains in New Mexico. It is still not something I like to dwell on for too long.

4. The time a mostly naked man ran into my classroom.

5. Some of the amazingly wonderful people I've met on my short blogging journey.

But, I think some of the best things I can put up today are these pictures.

If you poke a squirrel, he will bite your finger.

Beats having a pit bull.

Both of these can be dangerous.

By the time you see this sign, it might be too late.

Looks like caution has already been thrown to the wind.

Hmmmm.... not sure if this church is forbidding underwear.

And finally...

Fence sitting is not legal... or healthy.

  1. Love the signs!

I think you have to do all those posts now. You know you have to right?

I'm never disappointed when I come here, you always have great stories and such a unique way of telling them, I can't wait to hear all of those ideas!

  5. Remember "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat," the descriptive line used every week to introduce ABC's long-running TV series Wide World of Sports? That's how it is with a blog, Shelly. I have been following you for several months now and your blog membership has grown steadily during that time. You have presented stories that touch our hearts, stories that bring tears of sadness, stories that inspire us and stories that make us fall out of our chairs laughing. It's all part of life, the "human drama" as they referred to it on Wide World of Sports. To me blogging is an art form. Sometimes art provokes a negative reaction in a certain percentage of the audience but it's all good because art is supposed to make you feel something and no two people feel the exact same thing or experience art exactly the same way. If you find a story interesting chances are that most or all of your readers will, too. Don't hold back because you're afraid of shocking or offending. The only thing that would shock me is if you ever lost a single follower because you dared to tell all.

  6. Ah Shelly...please don' ever self-restrain on your stories. I love all your postings and I do believe everyone who reads your blog knows you have a good heart and a fantastic sense of humor! I still remember your story of the flatulent horse with great fondness!

I found the sign about the Street Dept and This Is Not A Street so very governmental!

    Hugs~

  7. Shady: I well remember the wide World of Sports! I appreciate your very kind comments. You are one of those great bloggers I have learned so much from. Your advice is good- trust the instincts and don't hold back. Hope you are having the beautiful weather in your part of the country we are having in ours, good friend!

  8. Sush: Those gassy horses will forever be seared into my brain. I still wonder what those tourists thought! Thank you for your very sweet words. That particular sign was so typical of governmental double speak- good grief!

  11. I always felt sorry for that guy that went flying across the snow displaying the agony of defeat.
Shelly my friend if there is one thing you don't need to worry about it's what to blog about. You are in inspiration in more ways than one. From being a success at weight loss, eating healthy, teaching tomorrow's leaders and giving all us bloggers many moments to reflect on life after reading one of your touching, funny or just plain entertaining posts. At present I have 129 followers and that varies up to 132 but there are about a dozen that consider truly quality bloggers and you are at the top of that list. Thank you for all your contributions.

  13. All those signs were funny! I think each and everyone of the things you are considering blogging about could be interesting stories and I would like to read them all! I think you could tell all the stories with respect even considering the circumstances and I'm sure no one would take offense with it. And people have to remember it is your blog and you do have the choice to write what you want and they can read it or not or comment or not.

  14. Betty: Those signs really cracked me up, too. You're right- people do have a choice to read or not to read. I'm going to go ahead and do it. Thank you!

  15. Good stuff! I can't imagine that any of those story choices would be bad, but I'm particularly waiting for the chilling one in the mountains. I'm a sucker for a "chilling" story. Bring 'em on! I look forward to reading whatever you write here, and I can't imagine you'd offend anyone, ever.
