Please forgive me, friends. I have been under the weather, although I am getting closer to 100% again. After a brief overnight hospital stay and enough meds to hopefully pull the welcome mat out from under from the bug I had, I looked forward to reading your blogs today.
I opened my dashboard this morning expecting to be greeted by your terrific posts which always get my morning off to a great start, only to be welcomed by the sounds of lonely crickets. No matter how many times I log out and in, no matter how I tweak the view, this petulant child called Blogger tells me I am following no blogs. Sigh.
I will keep working to find you all again. In the meantime, please don't think I'm purposefully neglecting you. You can't hide from me- so don't even try!
Hope your week is amazing~
Dear Shelly, I am shocked to learn that you were hospitalized and very relieved to know that you are bouncing back. You are the most conscientious blogger I know and I assure you that you have a lifetime pass with me. I will never doubt your commitment to our friendship if you fail to show up on my blog. Illness and various other hardships are unavoidable and real life must always take precedence over blog contact. Thank you for letting us know what's been going on. I want you to know that I have been having the same problem with Blogger. It constantly tells me I am following ZERO blogs! After refreshing the page a few times the list always reappears. I hope you can get your list back and I'm very sorry you are dealing with this hassle along with your illness. Blessings to you, my dear friend. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteShady: Thank you! I've not had this problem with Blogger in such a sustained fashion before. No matter how many times I refresh or log back out and in, it's not there. Hopefully it will wake up soon. And thank you for the good wishes- life is good!
DeleteOh, no! I hope you are fully recovered very soon! Maybe you are suffering from teaching withdrawals? I don't know if you are supposed to quit cold turkey like that.
ReplyDeleteI recently switched to Bloglovin, and I prefer it to following blogs through Blogger. Also, Google Reader is going away on July 1.
Feel better, friend!
Amy: Thank you! I am feeling better, and even plan on working out today. Hate being sick!
DeleteHa! I hadn't thought of teaching withdrawals...maybe you have something there. I should line up some of my girls' old Barbies and teach to them for a while.
I've just been reading about Bloglovin, and I think I'm going to have to go to that since I really don't like Google+.
I truly wish you a speedy recovery and I hope it's nothing serious. Make sure you just take it a little easy.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem with blogger but after I refresh the page it comes back again. Maybe it's just a glitch every now and again, so I'm sure it will be ok.
I'm also now on 'Feedly' as my new reader (and it's my backup should things go wrong) and it's working great so far and easy to navigate. I know google reader is going soon but I don't think we will lose our 'readers list' on our dashboard because this is a different thing. You'll know if I'm wrong on July 01st.
Rum Punch Drunk: I am looking at Feedly and Bloglovin, and it's good to know you've had the nice results with Feedly. Anything at this point would be better than what I have! Thank you for the good wishes- already feeling so much better~
DeleteHope all is back to normal, health and blogwise, real soon.
ReplyDeleteLinda: Thank you, friend!
DeleteI came over here to wish you well right away. Can't have this puniness. Then I find blogger is messing with you. That is adding insult to injury, for sure.
ReplyDeletePlease be up and about, yourself again. Soonest!
vanilla: Thank you! I think I have given puniness the door and the No Trespassing sign, too. As for Blogger, I can only hope! Thank you!
DeleteHey! Hope you are up and feeling 100 percent again soon. I switched to Feedly too.
ReplyDeleteBossy Betty: Thank you! Feedly sounds like a good alternative~
DeleteShelly, I hope you are up and running again soon. Illness in summer is the worst. I am also frustrated with Blogger, the platform I use for my blog and have actually started looking at other op
ReplyDeletetions. My blogs I follow don't always update, loading pictures has become a nightmare.
Keep healing and back to blogging soon.
Mountaingmom: Thank you so much for your kind words! And yes, the frustrations you are having sound much the same as mine. I do hope a good fix comes soon!
DeleteI don't like the sound of that, Shelly. Hospitalized for sickness? In the US of A?! Is that even allowed???
ReplyDeleteCome back. Soon. But be better when you do. We'll all be waiting.
Love,
Pearl
Pearl: I showed them my "Never Gets Sick" card, but they wouldn't accept it. Already feeling so much better. Thank you, my friend~
DeleteI run into problem that aLL the time, I just keep refreshing my browser window and it eventuaLLy works. Hope you are 110% soon (as dirty dishes are bound to be accumulating.)
ReplyDeleteesboston: I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, but I still wish they would fix it. Thank you, and yes, it's amazing how many dishes and laundry can pile up in one 24 hour period!
DeleteDarn Blogger quit picking on our poor ailing but getting better Shelly!!!!
ReplyDeleteShelly I am so sad to here you were sick and in the hospital but happy you are feeling a bit better. What a way to start retirement. HUGS.
Darn blogger doing same to me just refresh unless it is reader then it will be gone.I do not like Google+ either not sure what I will do but friend connect is staying so far so I am still going to use it.
Lots of hugs and healing wishes coming your way. B
Buttons: Oh, this blogger- I hate the little tantrums it throws. I'm like you- I don't like Google +. I'm looking at some of the other alternatives. I hope something works. Thank you for the good wishes!
DeleteI'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Occasionally, Blogger pulls that crap of telling me I'm not following anyone. I threaten it, and eventually, everyone reappears.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie: Perhaps that's it- I need to threaten it more forcefully, although I was doing a pretty good job of it this morning!
DeleteI love the title of your post :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better -- take care of yourself so you can mend completely.
jenny_o: Thank you, friend- and thank you again for the very kind email to check on me yesterday.
DeleteA hospital stay... Sounds serious, but apparently you're fixed, or almost fixed! :) I'm glad to know you're back home.
ReplyDeleteI've had my blogs disappear several times recently. I keep clicking around, like looking at stats and other options, and somehow the blogs return. Good luck! And I'm glad you found me today. :)
Anita: I'm getting close to 100%, for which I'm thankful. And that blogger- it's so random in its balkiness!
DeleteHow can you retire and get sick enough to go to the hospital? Not fair. I'm glad you're okay. Take care of yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteTheresa: I thought the same- it just doesn't seem fair! But things are better today. Thank you!
DeleteOh I am sorry that you had to stay n the hospital. I wonder what kind of bug that was. I hope that it does not come back.
ReplyDeleteBlogger has done this to me in the past. There have been times when blogger said that I am not following any one. I did get back the reading list the next day.
Munir: I am being sure to take all the meds so I can stay well! I do hope I get my list back- it is disconcerting!
DeleteOh, prayers for you Shelly!! I hope you are feeling back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteBlogger can be frustrating, but maybe, it is what GOD wants you to do right now. Stop, and listen to crickets.
Forced break....It's happened to me quite often!
Jamie:Thank you, my friend! I am feeling so much better today, and I hope by tomorrow it will be business as usual. I hadn't thought about that, and a forced break- and you know, listening to crickets isn't always a bad thing!
DeleteOh my, Shelly. I'm so very sorry to hear about your not being well. Prayers for your rest and healing.
ReplyDeleteI have experienced that same problem on Blogger telling me that I have no blogs to read. Very aggravating.
Nonnie: Thank you, my friend- I am feeling much better today. I wish Blogger would behave and do what it is supposed to!
DeleteI hope you are feeling better. Blogger has so many problems that I went elsewhere for a web server. Now I have different problems. Hope this glitch gets corrected soon.
ReplyDeleteStephen: Thank you! I have figured that with most of the popular ones, I will probably be trading one set of problems for another. Oy vey-
DeleteSo sorry that you not feeling a 100% Shelly. I don't even read blogs from the dashboard anymore. I just click on my previous posts commenters name and go to their blogs.
ReplyDeleteNas
Nas: I think you have a good idea- that way I could at least keep up with everyone. And thank you!
DeleteOh my gosh Shelly, my computer tries to play the same trick on me. Usually I keep refreshing it and it eventually comes around. Well no worries girl and besides you need to get to feeling better!!!
ReplyDeleteSaimi: Ah, thank you, friend! I hope I and Blogger will be back to normal tomorrow~
DeleteSo sorry to hear you've been sick! I hope you're feeling back to yourself in no time! Blogger can be a real pain sometimes. Hopefully it will get better soon, too!
ReplyDeleteSherry: Thank you! I hope so, and soon!
DeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better. I will never try to hide so I can always get a comment from you...which you always do..and for that I am thankful.
ReplyDeletedrink some OJ!
Christine: Thank you- and OJ actually sounds good right now! And I am thankful for you, my friend!
DeleteI hate to hear you were sick enough for the hospital but I am glad you are better. Blogger took my blogs out of reader too. I don't get it. sandie
ReplyDeleteSandie: Blogger leaves me continually befuddled. Thank you, feeling much better!
DeleteSick? Enough to go to the hospital?!!! Goodness gracious Shelly, I do hope that you WILL be 100% quickly and whatever your ailment was, it will never come back. Now, that is NO WAY to begin retirement.
ReplyDeleteAnd Blogger? I'm starting my own 'friends' list. Getting the urls and saving them in a bookmark folder. Forget having to depend on Blogger and Google, etc. etc. etc. Of course I don't have the interfacing of updating who blogged when, but at least I have everyone's blogs listed for reference in case this happens to me.
DO GET WELL...
HOOTIN ANNI: Thank you, and I feel so much better now! I think you have a great idea of bookmarking each blog yourself. In case the day of the Blogging Apocalypse actually arrives, I want to be ready, too!
DeleteI am beginning to suspect that there is a feature of Blogger that I am not acquainted with: Following other bloggers' blogs!! AS it is, I have my Blogroll and I follow you all by checking that in my sidebar. It shows the latest posts, and if the posts sound unfamiliar then I know that they are new and recent. Lorna
ReplyDeleteLorna: Going with the blogroll works, too. I go to the dashboard and read the latest updates from there. The Google Reader part of Blogger is going away as of July 1. I just want something that will work consistently!
DeleteDear Shelly, like Lorna, I don't use the notification on my dash pages about postings from blogs I follow. Some of these I no longer follow but I don't know how to let my "Dash" know that. So instead, I have bookmarked all the blogs that I still follow. On a day that I am going to read blogs, I simply go down the bookmarks and do maybe 15 that day. Then the next blogging day, I go to the bookmarks and do the next 15 or so. It's the only way I can manage following! Peace.
ReplyDeleteDee: I think I am going to have to do something like that just to keep my sanity. I like your system, and then you don't get bogged down with other blogs you don't read anymore. Everything that seems easy with Blogger turns out to be difficult..
DeleteThat's been happening to me off and on for months! That's why I started following blogs directly by email when they have that option. I may get the posts a day later, but at least I get them.
ReplyDeleteGet well. Spoil yourself rotten. Sleep. Heal. *love and hugs* :)
Rita: That's a good plan, too. At least it will get you the posts. And thank you for the kind wishes. I'm feeling better every day~
DeleteOh, noooooo! Here I am; can you link back to me?
ReplyDeleteJeannette: I've been bookmarking all the ones I follow so I don't lose them again. I'm also looking at Bloglovin and Feedly as an extra backup!
DeleteSorry you've been ill! Hope you're feeling back to normal soon!
ReplyDeleteLydia: Thank you! Better each day~
DeleteOh my I hope you start to feel better soon, it is not nice to have to go into hospital for a night..........sometimes blogger needs time in the naughty corner, I follow most blogs via email now days
ReplyDeleteJo-Anne: Thank you, my friend, and I hope you are feeling better yourself. Wish I could send Blogger to the hospital...
DeleteDearest Shelly,
ReplyDeleteOMG, so sorry to hear that you are under the weather now, my dear friend!!! I DO hope you'll feel better soon. I'm touched by your wonderfully written post. We are always here and thinking about you. Take Care of Yourself. Sending healing prayers from Japan.
I'm taking off to visit my father today and finally motivated to visit friends... (haven't checked dashboard much).
Love you always from Japan to my dear American friend, xoxo Miyako*
orchid: I so hope and pray your sweet father is doing better, my dear friend! Thank you for your very kind wishes and sweet regards. I am feeling better each day and I hope it will soon be a distant memory!
DeleteOh no! I'm so sorry you've been sick... hopefully you're on the mend and back in our presence again. I knew that Google Reader was going away so I switched to Bloglovin. It works like a champ. No problems at all. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeletekaren: Thank you! And I've actually signed up for Bloglovin. I hope it lives up to its promise~
DeleteI hate you've been ill, but don't you worry I am never going to leave you. And don't YOU try! Hope you get it all worked out soon!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Sush: Ah, thank you, my friend! Those new grandbabies of yours are gorgeous!
DeleteI'm sorry you've been sick. I hope you're back to 100% soon. Keep us posted on how you're feeling. And Blogger can be a pain sometimes. I've been there!
ReplyDeleteSending healing vibes your way...
~Janette
Janette: Thank you, my friend! I am feeling better. I am following the dr's instructions and hoping this will be a one time thing!
DeleteI hope you feel better soon Shelly! It's no fun being under the weather in the summer.
ReplyDeleteBlogger does that to me sometimes by the way. Tuesday morning it did it for a couple of hours but then my feed magically reappeared.
Optimistic Existentialist: It's like it's playing hide and seek, only this isn't the fun version! Thank you!
DeleteI've received that message also, but it usually disappears and my links show up.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel back to normal real soon!
Pat: Hopefully Blogger and I will stay well- thanks!
DeleteI don't know how you find the time to visit so many blogs, I follow about five of them and I feel like it takes up a good chunk of my day (You're at the top of my list!)Hope you're feeling better, I know all about hospital visits, no fun!
ReplyDeleteJulie: Ah, thank you! I usually read a few at a time, as I get little chunks at the computer here and there. Yours is always a highlight!
DeleteShelly,
ReplyDeleteHope you are soon up and about, feeling "all better." Please take care of yourself. blessings to you - Marsha
Marsha: Thank you, friend!
DeleteHi Shelly, I'm here again to answer your question about the farmer's market. There are two of them in town. One is downtown and open on Wednesday afternoon/evening -- hours 4:30-6:30 pm. On Water Street http://www.localharvest.org/corpus-christi-downtown-farmers-market-M57136
ReplyDeleteThe other is open on Saturday mornings -at 9am. Not sure when they close tho, I always get there early and leave about 30 minutes later. This is the one Bud and I frequent most often. Not much there but fresh produce and sometimes they have booths of hand made items.... on Everhart http://farmersmarketcc.org/
HOOTIN ANNI: Ah, thank you! We are going to make a trip over there soon and I want to go to one!
DeleteI hope you are all better!! and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnnmarie: Already feeling better each day- thank you!
DeleteHow very annoying... both blogger and your bug! Sorry to hear you've been so unwell. You're so very good for commenting on blogs. Apologies for delay in me commenting on yours but as you've probaly gathered I was away on holidays! Hope you're better very soon....take care Shelly :-)
ReplyDeletexx Jazzy
jazzygal: Thank you, friend! I hope your vacation was wonderful- such a wonderful thing to go on!
DeleteOh No! I hope all is well now...and with you as well Shelly. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteJust Be Real: Thank you! Blogger is starting to behave more consistently, and I hope to be 100% by the end of the week.
DeleteOh no!! It sounds like you have had some very unwelcome drama. Glad to hear you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteOn another note I hear many are having trouble with Blogger (I have just made the switch to Wordpress)and must now get my fave blog reads switched over to BlogLovin!
Stephanie: Thank you! And I am signed up for BlogLovin. I just need to get used to using it~
DeleteShelly you should REALLY write a memoir :) seriously it would be a best-seller!! "Life as a Teacher - the untold stories" haha.
ReplyDeleteOptimistic: Ha! There would definitely be enough fodder for it-
DeleteSo glad you are back. Hospitals are places where sleep is next to impossible. Take care, my friend.
ReplyDeleteSimone: Amen to that! Thank you, my friend~
